These included the main engine, rudder, bow thruster, radio, and radar equipment, all operated through radio waves from a distance. After initial trial operations in July, Rhenus showcased the innovative project at the 13th National Maritime Conference, a pivotal event organized by the German government to bolster the maritime industry.<\/p>\n<p>At the conference, visitors witnessed the potential of remote-controlled inland waterway shipping at the FernBin stand. Skippers Bernhard Buche and Herbert Berger navigated the \u2018Ernst Kramer\u2019 from the operator\u2019s stand at the Bremen Trade Fair Centre, showcasing its remote-controlled capabilities. The live link allowed spectators to observe the vessel\u2019s movements in the Port of Duisburg and the Ruhr estuary, all controlled remotely.
