This positive trend continued at the end of the year, with December transshipment volumes up 2.2% year-on-year, reaching 1.58 billion tons.<\/p>\n<p>According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China, coastal seaports contributed the most to this growth. Their cargo throughput for the 12 months of 2025 increased by 3.7%, reaching 11.63 billion tons, confirming robust demand for foreign trade and transit shipments.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2025, China\u2019s seaports handled 986 million tons of cargo, an increase of 3.8% compared to the same period the previous year.
