The project is based on a so-called shunting agreement between rail operators. The companies, representing approximately 70% of the market, will be able to take over each other\u2019s services at fixed rates in the event of capacity shortages or disruptions. This cooperation format aims to prevent train cancellations and lengthy delays, and ensures a ready-made plan for dealing with deviations from the standard schedule.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement covers the entire port railway line from Kaifhoek to Maasvlakte and back, including all intermediate stations and terminals. The document clearly defines the administrative and actual handover of trains, as well as the division of responsibilities between the parties. This allows the terminals to clear tracks in a timely manner, even during schedule disruptions, and maintain the smooth operation of scheduled trains throughout the port area.<\/p>\n<p>Trip bookings for the pilot project will be made through a dedicated PortFlow app, developed by RailApp with support from the port authority and the Topcorridors program. During the trial period, the developer, the port authority, and the operators will evaluate the results of the collaboration monthly.
