Vietnamese SOVICO Group is negotiating the transfer of Kyzylorda Airport to trust management. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev, emphasizing that the deal does not provide for the sale of the asset – the Vietnamese side will temporarily manage the airport to improve its efficiency.
SOVICO has been showing interest in the airports of Kyzylorda and Turkestan since 2024 – this was previously reported by the Civil Aviation Committee. Also, the Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin announced the plans of the Vietnamese company to acquire one of the airports of Kazakhstan, but the format of cooperation is so far limited to management and investment in infrastructure development.
