After several years of planning and an intensive, yet brief, construction phase, the new combined transport terminal at the Port of Straubing-Sand was officially opened on September 30. Ulrich Lange, Member of the Bundestag and Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transport, led the opening ceremony, along with representatives from politics and business. The Federal Government supported the project with approximately €19 million, representing approximately 79% of the total eligible investment.

Operational management of the terminal was entrusted to Contargo CombiTrac Straubing-Sand GmbH, a joint venture between Contargo and SFI GmbH. Thanks to the partner’s experience and extensive network, the terminal was provided with all the necessary prerequisites for successful operation. Josef Rädlinger Bauunternehmen GmbH from Cham was responsible for the construction of the project, ensuring the timely completion of all phases.

The new terminal strengthens the Port of Straubing-Sand’s position as a key transport hub in Lower Bavaria. The facility, covering an area of over 50,000 m², ensures efficient container handling between road and rail transport, enhancing convenience for industrial shippers and contributing to the development of the region as a whole.
