The Transport Ministries of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, together with the European Commission and with the support of the Technical Assistance Instrument (TSI), have launched a project to create a unified Rail Baltica infrastructure management system. The project, implemented by EY, will develop an approach to the efficient management of railway infrastructure and provision of transport services along the entire Rail Baltica line, which will help overcome administrative barriers between countries and improve international connections.

At the meeting on 25 October 2024, the participants discussed the key objectives of the project, including the creation of a unified Rail Baltica management model, the development of a legal framework and a financing system for infrastructure facilities such as depots, freight terminals and passenger stations. One of the priorities will be a market analysis to optimise the use of infrastructure and rolling stock on international routes, which will allow for the most efficient use of Rail Baltica’s capabilities.
The project will also provide recommendations for improving the legal framework so that all aspects of operation comply with EU legislation. Regular meetings will be organised to implement the project, and the Baltic transport ministries have committed to assisting the EY consultant by providing the necessary information and data to successfully complete the tasks.
