Yesterday, February 12, the Gdańsk Baltic Hub container terminal received the French ship CMA CGM Georg Forster, named after the 18th century explorer George Forster, known for his connections with Gdańsk. Neptune, the city’s mascot, personally welcomed the impressive ship measuring 398 m long and 54 m wide.
Built in 2015, the ship currently flies the Maltese flag. The name of the unit has deep historical roots, referring to George Forster, born near Gdańsk, a famous traveler and professor of natural history. After entering the Baltic Hub, Neptune, the symbol of Gdańsk, ceremoniously welcomed the ship, and a photo report from this unique event was shared by the terminal on social media.
