The Investment Council of Moldova has approved the application of the Romanian state-owned company Constanta Sea Ports Authority to purchase 100% of the share capital of ÎCS Danube Logistics SRL, the owner and operator of the Giurgiulesti International Free Port, which is currently managed by the EBRD. Thus, the Romanian port operator will gain control over the key Danube asset.
The company’s planned investments will exceed 24 million euros and will be aimed at developing the port’s infrastructure: modernizing railway lines, expanding warehouse capacity, upgrading equipment and digitalizing operations.
Earlier, the EBRD announced an international tender to find a new investor capable of ensuring the long-term development of Giurgiulesti. The winner of this selection was the Constanta Sea Ports Authority.
