The EAEU is considering the digitalization of transport and the expansion of “Seamless Transit”.

The meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) discussed the introduction of digital technologies to create a single transport space in the EAEU. Kazakhstan presented the Seamless Transit project, developed jointly with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC and the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The project, launched in May 2024, is already operating on the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan route, allowing for the automation of container transportation from China to Central Asia and Europe.

The Seamless Transit project attracted considerable attention from participants, who expressed interest in its possible scaling up to road transportation within the EAEU. This will simplify transport communications in the Central Asian and Trans-Caspian directions, as well as with the Caucasus.

In addition, the committee members discussed the implementation of the Roadmap for the EAEU Transport Policy for 2024-2026 and the approval of additional measures by February 2025.
