Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Railway and Water Transport of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kasym Tlepov spoke about significant projects being implemented in the ports of Aktau and Kuryk. According to him, dredging work began in the port of Kuryk in July 2024, where a third of the planned volume has already been completed. The work is being carried out using the Visalius dredger, which is capable of effectively developing soil in difficult water conditions.

Similar work is planned to begin in the port of Aktau in 2025. As part of cooperation with the Chinese company Lianyungang Port, construction of a container hub has already begun there, which opens up new prospects for cargo transportation and international trade. Large foreign investors such as Abu Dhabi Ports, Rhenus, CMA CGM, Wandernet and other Chinese companies have shown interest in the development of port infrastructure.

In addition, Tlepov noted that by 2030, as part of the modernization of the main railway network, it is planned to build 404 kilometers of second tracks on the Beineu – Mangistau, Zharyk – Sekseul and Shalkar – Kuryk sections. Five stations will also be modernized and automatic blocking will be introduced on the Shalkar – Beineu section.
