ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is responding to increased customer demand by expanding the number of round trips and adapting the TransFER Villach–Frosinone route to accommodate growing needs. Originally launched in 2023 with one monthly round trip as part of the TransFER Villach–Italy service, the route has quickly doubled to two round trips per month, particularly driven by demand from the waste management sector. With plans to potentially increase to four round trips per month, RCG aims to provide more frequent and reliable transportation between Austria and Italy, catering to various industries including timber.
The surge in demand is attributed to new customers in the waste management sector, such as EuroTIDECO and FCC Austria Abfall Service AG. FCC Austria Abfall Service AG, a subsidiary of FCC Environment CEE Group, specializes in sustainable waste management solutions and has chosen RCG for its environmentally friendly transportation needs. RCG has already transported 1,350 tonnes of waste for these companies using its MOBILER system, offering a seamless multimodal logistics solution combining rail and road transport.
The TransFER service boasts a swift transit time of just one day between Villach and Frosinone, providing customers with efficient end-to-end logistics solutions including first and last mile services, conventional wagonload transport, and container transport. With additional forwarding services available, such as handling facilities and warehouse logistics, RCG aims to meet the diverse needs of its customers while promoting sustainable transportation solutions.
