The Port of Gothenburg, Sweden’s largest car port, has signed a twelve-year concession agreement with Wallenius Wilhelmsen to operate the car and ro-ro terminal. The new operator will take up operations in February 2026.
Selected following a competitive tender, Wallenius Wilhelmsen plans to invest around €6 million in upgrading the terminal’s infrastructure. In 2023, the port handled 267,000 cars, representing 37% of the Swedish car market.
The company intends to focus on improving the efficiency and sustainability of the terminal, supporting the port’s strategic goal of becoming the most competitive port in the world.
