Riga Port has joined hands with Cartagena (Spain), Trieste, and Monfalcone (Italy) ports, alongside North Sea ports (Belgium, the Netherlands), to establish the Association of Four Sea Ports. This collaboration aims to bolster sustainability, energy, digitalization, and European transport in port operations. Through shared expertise and experience, the association seeks to foster operational synergy among ports, inviting others to join.

Focused on sustainability and energy, the partnership will foster knowledge exchange on renewable energy production, environmental management, and sustainable port practices. Additionally, it aims to enhance competitiveness by facilitating cargo flow and sharing insights into digitalization, port community systems, and traffic management. Joint participation in European projects, particularly in sustainability, energy, and smart technologies, is also a key objective.

By aligning with European goals such as the European Green Deal and the Fit for 55 package, the collaboration aims to build alternative fuel infrastructure and promote the use of renewable and low-carbon fuels in maritime transport. Through collective action, these ports strive to contribute to Europe’s sustainable future.
