In January 2025, Kazakhstan’s transport performance improved significantly. The physical volume index (PVI) of the Transport and Warehousing sector increased by 119%, indicating the high dynamics of the industry’s development. During the month, 90.3 million tons of cargo were transported, which is 18.2% more than a year earlier, and passenger traffic amounted to 143.2 million people (+ 15.4%).
Freight turnover reached 45.9 billion t-km, an increase of 13.8%, and passenger turnover grew by 15%, reaching 7.1 billion p-km. The leaders in freight traffic growth were Almaty, Astana and Shymkent, and in passenger traffic – Almaty, Shymkent and the Mangistau region.
The growth of indicators confirms the active development of infrastructure and an increase in demand for transport services. Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its position in the region’s logistics system, improving conditions for freight and passenger transportation.
