The first meetings of the Steering Committee and the Partner Group of the project “Digital Transformation of Port Management, Improvement of Processing and Analysis of Transport and Logistics Data” were held at the Ventspils Freeport Authority. During the meetings, the participants discussed the key tasks of creating a single digital platform for all participants in port services, ensuring equal access for both international and domestic customers, which will improve the transparency and efficiency of the largest Latvian ports.

Latvian ports are important hubs for multimodal transportation by sea, rail and road, handling approximately 40 million tons of cargo annually. The cargo turnover process involves numerous parties – from shippers and recipients to carriers, port operators and regulatory authorities. At the same time, huge volumes of data and documents pass through different systems and formats, which requires significant time and resource costs and reduces the competitiveness of Latvian transport corridors.

The project aims to create an integrated digital platform for multimodal transportation and data exchange with national information systems. This will automate document processing and logistics processes, increase the speed of cargo movement, reduce the administrative burden and environmental footprint, and strengthen the position of Latvian ports on the international stage. The cost of the project is 3.24 million euros, financed by the European Union, and implementation is planned until May 2026.
