Two major railway projects in Kazakhstan are being completed ahead of schedule.

In 2025, two large-scale railway projects will be completed ahead of schedule in Kazakhstan: the Dostyk-Moiynty section and the Almaty bypass line. This was announced by Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev at a government meeting, emphasizing that these projects will significantly increase the network’s capacity and strengthen the country’s transit potential.

Today, the length of Kazakhstan’s railways is 16 thousand km. By 2030, it is planned to modernize 5 thousand km and repair 11 thousand km. Three more projects are in progress: Darbaza-Maktaaral, Moiynty-Kyzylzhar and Bakhty-Ayagoz. The first two of them will be commissioned next year.

In addition, large-scale modernization of 3 thousand km of tracks has begun. It is equivalent to the construction of new roads: thus, the capacity of the Kyzylzhar-Sekseul section will increase from 8 to 25 trains, and Kandyagash-Tobol – from 7 to 25. According to the minister, these projects form a full-fledged railway framework for Kazakhstan.
