TX Logistik AG began operating the first three of 40 modern Vectron locomotives ordered from Siemens Mobility in May 2023. The expansion of the locomotive fleet is a key step for TX Logistik to continue growing in the field of intermodal and cross-border rail freight. The new locomotives will primarily be used on strategically important north-south corridors in Europe, such as the Brenner and Swiss Corridors.

Both corridors are highly congested and place high demands on locomotives, including power, stability and system compatibility when crossing borders. TX Logistik has ordered the locomotives with different country packages. Twenty of them will be equipped for operations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands and are scheduled to be handed over in early 2025.

The decision to purchase the Vectron locomotives also underlines TX Logistik’s commitment to promoting rail freight transport as an environmentally friendly and efficient alternative to road transport. The first of three locomotives handed over to the company in Braunschweig has a special livery with the inscription “Start now. (Nature) Driven by Green Passion”, symbolising this approach. With the new locomotives, TX Logistik expects to significantly increase capacity on the Brenner and Swiss Corridors in the medium term, as well as to improve the efficiency and reliability of rail freight transport.
