At its October meeting, the Board of Directors of the International Union of Combined Road and Rail Transport (UIRR) decided to implement a rotating presidency, effective January 1, 2026. After eighteen months at the helm of the association, the current chairman, Hupac Group CEO Mihail Stahlhut, is handing over his powers to the current Vice Chairman and CEO of Contargo, Jürgen Albersmann. Metrans CEO Petr Kiš has been elected as the new Vice Chairman, while Stahlhut will continue to serve on the UIRR Board of Directors.

UIRR unites market participants with the goal of shifting more freight volumes to the most competitive, efficient, and environmentally sustainable solutions based on the combination of various modes of transport. The association’s key areas of activity remain the development of standardization, digitalization, and the creation of a favorable regulatory environment necessary for the further growth of intermodal transport in Europe.

Starting in 2026, Jürgen Albersmann and Petr Kiš will jointly strengthen the work of the UIRR Board of Directors, focusing on the development of combined transport and the promotion of the “Combined Transport for Europe” initiative. Supported by a professional team, the association will continue to improve the framework conditions and joint systems for combined transport to ensure the level of efficiency and service quality expected by market customers.
