JSC Ukrzaliznytsia expects a loss of UAH 2.7 billion by the end of 2024, despite a profit of UAH 3.1 billion in the first half of the year. The company experienced a significant drop in profit by UAH 1.7 billion in the first six months of this year.
Total revenue from freight transportation increased by UAH 6.5 billion compared to last year and reached UAH 43 billion. In addition, revenue from the wagon component increased by 24% in the first half of 2024. Fuel costs decreased by 3%, and the purchase price of gas fell by 35%, which made this year less expensive for the company.
Despite a decrease in capital investment costs by UAH 2.1 billion, operating costs increased by UAH 2.6 billion, reaching UAH 4.6 billion. The company notes that the average monthly transportation volume increased by 27% to 15 million tons per month, but this could not compensate for the overall decline in profits.
