WEC Lines has introduced the updated NWC Portugal (NWC PT) and NWC Canary Islands (NWC CAI) services, offering reduced transit times and fixed departure days. NWC PT now includes the ports of Rotterdam, Moerdijk, Antwerp, Vigo, Leixões, Setúbal and Montoir, while NWC CAI now includes Hamburg, Thamesport, Moerdijk, Bilbao, Vigo, Leixões, Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Sines.
NWC Canary Islands will be served by three 868 TEU vessels on a 21-day rotation, calling Las Palmas on Thursdays and Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Fridays, with regular transhipments in Puerto del Rosario and Arrecife. The new call to Hamburg will enable transit from Leixões to be completed in 5 days, and from the Canary Islands in 8-9 days. From Hamburg, cargo will be delivered to Bilbao, Leixões and the Canary Islands in 6, 9 and 12-13 days respectively.
The NWC Portugal service is operated by two 1,000 TEU vessels in a 14-day rotation. It has been supplemented with weekly calls to Vigo and Thamesport, providing greater flexibility and faster delivery. The company emphasizes that the service upgrade reflects WEC Lines’ strategy to increase connectivity, optimize schedules and develop environmentally friendly solutions for customers.
