KTZ Express launched a new fast cargo delivery service in Kazakhstan.

KTZ Express has introduced an innovative service for transporting cargo in mail and baggage cars of passenger trains, accelerating logistics in the context of rapid growth of e-commerce. The first shipment took place on March 7: a 300-cubic-meter cargo was sent from Almaty-2 station to Astana-1 and arrived in just 24 hours.

DB Cargo UK upgrades ETCS locomotives for future rail freight operations.

DB Cargo UK is launching the upgrade of its Class 66 locomotives to the ETCS train control system in partnership with Siemens Mobility. This is the first stage of a national programme aimed at digitalising rail services and improving safety. The project is part of the £1.4bn East Coast Digital Programme, which will replace traditional signalling systems with digital ones that feed information directly into the cab for drivers.

Cargo turnover at Turkish ports increased in January-February.

Turkish ports increased cargo turnover by 2.4% in the first two months of 2025, handling 89.31 million tons. However, in February, there was a decrease of 7.9% to 40.37 million tons. The largest ports were Aliaga (7.41 million tons), Iskenderun (5.62 million tons), Kocaeli (5.42 million tons) and Tekirdag (4.11 million tons), while the top ten ports handled a total of 34.58 million tons (85.7% of the total).

Hactl has signed a contract with Hungary Airlines for cargo services.

Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) signed its first contract in 2025, becoming Hungary Airlines’ official ground handling partner. The airline launched scheduled cargo flights between Budapest and Hong Kong using an Airbus A330F with a capacity of 62 tons, strengthening trade ties between China and the EU.

Rail Baltica: Environmental assessment of the Тootsi-Pärnu route approved.

The Estonian Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (TTJA) has confirmed that the environmental assessment of the Rail Baltica route on the Tootsi-Pärnu section meets all requirements. This decision paves the way for the construction of this railway segment, ensuring a balance between modern infrastructure and environmental protection. The 320-metre-long route crosses the Pärnu River and passes through forest areas, agricultural land and an industrial area, integrating with existing transport corridors.
