KTZ Express and Lianyungang Port to Create Container Hub in Aktau

DEME launches the largest infrastructure project in the port of Livorno.

On May 13, 2025, the official launch of the Piattaforma Europa project took place in the Italian port of Livorno, which will be implemented by the Belgian group DEME together with partners. The project includes large-scale dredging and coastal protection works, the construction of new breakwaters, berths with a total length of 3 km, two terminals and the expansion of the port area by 2 million square meters.

Railways remain the leader in freight transportation in Kazakhstan, with growth of more than 10% since the beginning of the year.

In the first four months of 2025, the freight turnover of railway transport in Kazakhstan reached 111.277 billion ton-kilometers, which is 10.4% or 10.483 billion more compared to the same period last year. Such data was published by the Bureau of National Statistics. This confirms the sustainable role of railways as the main link in logistics in the country.

KTZ is connected to the accelerated implementation of instructions on modernization of infrastructure and logistics.

The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov discussed the implementation of the instructions given by the Head of State at the Security Council meeting. Representatives of the Ministries of Transport and Finance, the Samruk-Kazyna Fund, as well as the National Company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and the Border Service of the National Security Committee took part in the work. The main focus was on accelerating key infrastructure projects and modernizing border checkpoints.

Hannibal renews its fleet at the port of La Spezia: 20 new terminal tractors ordered.

Intermodal transport operator Hannibal, part of the Contship group, continues to modernize its equipment at the port of La Spezia by ordering 20 new Terberg YT Series terminal tractors. The delivery of the vehicles is scheduled for the end of 2025 – beginning of 2026 and will be the next step after the first 16 vehicles were delivered in March. The new tractors will be used for shuttle operations at the LSCT container terminal.

Lineas launched the first ever road train in the port of Ostend.

Rail operator Lineas, together with the Port of Ostend, has brought a road train into the port area for the first time, marking the return of block trains after a 15-year break. This marks a major milestone in the transformation of the port and is the result of a year and a half of work with infrastructure operator Infrabel to restore rail capacity.
