The Lemtrans Group has successfully completed the construction of the second stage of the Vinnytsia Container Terminal, having invested more than $15 million in the project. As part of the expansion, modern infrastructure was built, including railway tracks, a container yard and a warehouse with an area of more than 4 thousand square meters.
One year after the launch of the Container Exchange Route (CER), the project is entering a new phase. In 2025, the Port of Rotterdam Authority will begin building new connections to Distripark Maasvlakte and the ECT Delta/Hutchison Ports Delta II terminals via a central gate system. Work will start at the beginning of the year and will be completed in stages by the end of 2025.
The capacity of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) has reached 6 million tons per year. This was announced by the Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev during the government hour in the Majilis of the Parliament.
Freightliner PL has launched pilot trips on a new intermodal route that runs through Świnoujście to Sweden, with final destinations in Gothenburg and Stockholm. The trips began after successful tests in November, and regular transportation is planned to begin in early 2025.
Over the 11 months of 2024, the volume of rail transportation amounted to 390.5 million tons, which is 2.6% higher than last year. Export deliveries reached 75 million tons, domestic – 172 million tons, imports – 18.5 million tons, and transit shipments amounted to 25 million tons.
From 1 January 2025, the Port of Amsterdam will ban the use of open scrubbers for ships. These devices discharge polluted wastewater directly into port waters, which contributes to environmental pollution. The new ban is aimed at improving the health of the marine ecosystem.
Turkish companies YDA and Asfat have announced the construction of a shipyard in the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan. The project, which will require investments of 130 billion tenge (approximately 250 million dollars), is planned to be implemented in 2025-2026. The plant will be built near the port of Kurik and will facilitate the production of new vessels to meet the needs of the domestic fleet.
Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has completed the installation of three new highly automated container cranes at its Altenwerder terminal (CTA). The first of their kind in the Port of Hamburg, these remotely operated cranes will help to significantly increase the efficiency of container ship handling.
On December 25, the opening of a new airport terminal took place in Shymkent. In the initial period, the terminal will serve daytime domestic flights of SCAT Airlines, and in the near future it is planned to transfer flights of Air Astana and Fly Arystan Airlines.
The first four Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes have been successfully unloaded at the main berth of the T3 terminal in the Port of Gdansk. They are currently being tested and the equipment is being adjusted, and will be fully operational by March 2025. Three more STS cranes are expected to arrive from China in March next year. In addition, eight out of twenty rail-mounted cranes (RMG) have already been installed, and four of them have been connected to the power supply and put into operation.
