Lineas and FS Logistix create Modalink to operate Antwerp Mainhub terminal.

Lineas and FS Logistix have announced the launch of a joint venture, Modalink, which will take over the management of the Antwerp Mainhub terminal, one of the key facilities of Europe’s second-largest port. The 200,000 sq. m. terminal is equipped with eight 700 m long railway tracks, three gantry cranes and six reloaders, which allows it to handle up to 200,000 containers per year. At the first stage, FS Logistix’s share in Modalink will be 30%, but in the future it may increase to 49%.

The Cabinet of Ministers launches a public-private partnership project in the port of Chornomorsk.

The Ukrainian government has announced the launch of a PPP competition for the First and Container Terminals of the Chornomorsk Sea Port. As the Prime Minister reported, the order to create a competition committee in Odessa was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba. This is the first such project in the port industry since the start of the full-scale war.

LTG Cargo transported record volumes of grain in August.

Rail operator LTG Cargo (part of the LTG Group) set a new record by transporting 560,000 tons of 2025 grain in August. Despite the late start of the season, the volume of transportation was 22% higher than last year. To ensure logistics, the company prepared about 1,600 wagons – a third more than a year earlier, including 500 new high-capacity grain trucks.

Gebrüder Weiss strengthens its position in Turkey with the acquisition of Sienzi Lojistik.

Logistics company Gebrüder Weiss has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Istanbul-based Sienzi Lojistik, a specialist in bonded warehousing. The deal, which is expected to close in January 2026 subject to regulatory approval, will expand the company’s service capabilities and strengthen the Istanbul hub as a key hub for international supply chains. The company will continue to operate under the brand name Sienzi Lojistik – a Company of Gebrüder Weiss, with current Managing Director Murat Doğan remaining as a co-owner of the business.

Ukraine and the EU discussed the development of the Alexandroupolis-Odessa transport corridor.

On September 1, an introductory online meeting of representatives of the transport departments of Ukraine, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and the European Commission took place. The central topic was the development of the trans-European transport corridor TEN-T “Baltic Sea – Black Sea – Aegean Sea” with an emphasis on the section that should connect the Greek port of Alexandroupolis with the Ukrainian Odessa via Varna and Constanta.

Kombiverkehr to become terminal operator of Rail Hub Duisburg.

As of 1 January 2026, the Kombiverkehr Group will take over the management of the terminal in the port of Duisburg-Ruhrort, which belongs to Planungsgesellschaft Kombinierter Verkehr mbH (PKV). The facility will be operated by the subsidiary Kombiverkehr Intermodal Services GmbH Duisburg, and the terminal itself will be renamed Rail Hub Duisburg. This will mark the first change of operator in more than 20 years.
