Kazakhstan will modernize five more border checkpoints by the end of the year.

Kazakhstan continues to upgrade its border infrastructure: by the end of 2025, it plans to modernize five more automobile checkpoints. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Bakytzhan Slyamov. We are talking about the Temir Baba checkpoint on the border with Turkmenistan, Kazygurt and Tazhen on the border with Uzbekistan, as well as Maykapchagay and Bakhty in the Chinese direction.

The volume of transportation along the Trans-Caspian route increased by 62%.

According to the results of 2024, the volume of cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) reached 4.5 million tons, which is 62% more than in 2023. This was reported by the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan, noting that the route is becoming increasingly popular against the backdrop of growing trade activity between Asia and Europe.

Major shareholder HHLA proposes to cut dividends for investment purposes.

Port of Hamburg Beteiligungsgesellschaft SE, which holds around 90.4% of the shares in Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), has proposed a change to the dividend amount on the agenda of the annual general meeting of shareholders on 3 July 2025. Instead of the previously proposed €0.16 per Class A share, the majority shareholder is proposing to pay €0.10 per share.

Train Alliance invests in new terminal for MSG in Swedish Hallsberg.

Train Alliance and MSG Terminal have signed a lease agreement for the construction of a new transfer terminal in the Hallsberg Rala logistics area. The project entails an investment of slightly over SEK 20 million (approximately EUR 1.77 million), which Train Alliance will cover. MSG Terminal will lease the facility for ten years, with annual rental and fee payments amounting to around SEK 2.6 million (about EUR 230,000).

CargoBeamer to build largest semi-trailer handling terminal in Germany.

CargoBeamer, a specialist in semi-trailer rail transport and intermodal terminal operator, has announced the construction of a new, highly automated terminal in Kaldenkirchen, near the border between Germany and the Netherlands. It will be the company’s first own terminal in Germany, designed specifically for the automated loading of non-crane-mounted semi-trailers on rail. Construction will start in the second half of 2025, with commissioning scheduled for 2026.

Kazakhstan strengthens its position on the Middle Corridor: cargo flow has increased fivefold.

From 2021 to 2024, the volume of cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor (Central Trans-Caspian Route) increased more than fivefold — from 840 thousand to 4.5 million tons per year. According to a joint report by the Astana International Financial Center and the Institute for Development and Diplomacy at ADA University, Kazakhstan accounts for 63% of the total volume of transportation, confirming its key role in the development of the route.

Kazakhstan strengthens its role as a key logistics hub in Eurasia – Tokayev’s statement at the Central Asia-China summit.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke at the second Central Asia-China summit, expressing gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping for the course of strengthening cooperation with the Central Asian regions.
