On August 6, Talgat Lesov, Acting CEO of KAZLOGISTICS, attended a briefing on the logistics market and key business links between Hong Kong and Kazakhstan. The event discussed the opportunities that Hong Kong offers as a leading logistics and supply chain hub.

Kombiverkehr KG is expanding its European intermodal network with a new route between Belgium and Spain. The first train on the Atlantic route between Antwerp and Madrid will depart on September 3, 2024. This offers freight forwarders and logistics companies the opportunity to use this important 1,600-kilometre corridor for environmentally friendly rail transport. Example: a round trip with a load of 25 tonnes saves 5.1 tonnes of CO2 (84 percent). The trains will run twice a week: from Antwerp on Tuesdays and Fridays, from Madrid on Wednesdays and Sundays. Containers, swap bodies and dangerous goods (classes other than 1 and 7) can be transported. The transit time will be between 48 and 72 hours, depending on the day of the week.
Kedentransservis, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan Railways, and the German transport and logistics company Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA) have signed an agreement to provide freight forwarding services and develop multimodal terminals in Kazakhstan and abroad.
Japan will provide economic assistance to Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries aimed at creating a trade route bypassing Russia. This will be announced by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during his visit to Kazakhstan, which will take place from August 9 to 12.

DHL and Google, one of the world’s largest tech giants, have announced a partnership to use the DHL Express GoGreen Plus service with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The initiative will support express deliveries of Google devices in the Devices & Services division around the world, including the Americas, Asia and Europe. The 21st meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan took place in Almaty. Prime Ministers Olzhas Bektenov and Abdulla Aripov discussed a wide range of issues, including trade and economic cooperation, investment, transport infrastructure, industry, agriculture, ecology and digitalization.
An extended meeting of the operational headquarters on the development of non-resource exports was held in Astana. The event was attended by more than 10 business associations, 20 government agencies and national development institutions, as well as about 150 exporters. The main topics of discussion included VAT refunds, cost reimbursements for exporters, new support tools, searching for new markets and overcoming export barriers.
