The container terminal at the Port of Linz recorded its highest monthly throughput in May 2025, processing 24,405 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units).
New regulations on underloading in heavy-duty transport came into force in Germany on 1 July.
As of 1 July 2025, updated standards for the permissible underload for heavy and oversized transport have come into force in Germany. The innovations were initiated by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport with the active participation of the industry association BSK (Bundesfachgruppe für Schwertransport und Kranarbeiten), which unites companies operating in the field of heavy transport and crane work.
Maersk: Global tariffs destabilize market, China strengthens export position.
In its summer report Global Market Update 2025, Maersk warns that the global container shipping market is facing increasing uncertainty due to fluctuating tariff policies and unstable demand. Since the introduction of a new round of US tariffs on April 2, trade barriers have increased and transparency has decreased. Companies now pay an average of 21% of the value of a container in duties, while peak values reached 54%. This is especially sensitive for trade between the US and China. Maersk emphasizes that about 20% of border delays are caused by poor customs preparation, and companies overpay 5-6% due to the lack of centralized duty management.

Hupac strengthens intermodal connections between Germany and Italy.
From 7 July, Hupac will expand its service on the Duisburg-Singen route as well as on the routes between Germany and Italy. TRACECA and the Turkish Investment Fund discussed cooperation to strengthen regional transport connectivity.
On June 28, 2025, in Istanbul, within the framework of the Global Forum on Transport Connectivity, a meeting was held between the Secretary General of the TRACECA PS IGU Asset Asavbayev and the President of the Turkish Investment Fund (TIF) Baghdad Amreyev. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in joint support of regional transport projects.
The Ukrainian sea corridor handled 130 million tons of cargo – despite the attacks, the work continues.
Since the opening of the Ukrainian Sea Corridor in August 2023, almost 5 thousand vessels have passed through it, and the transshipment volume has exceeded 130 million tons of cargo, of which more than 80 million tons are grain. This was announced by the head of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) Oleksandr Semirga during the visit of German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga to the Odessa port.
COFCO International has increased its control over grain logistics in Europe with its own fleet of barges.
COFCO International has commissioned a new river fleet of four pushers and 29 barges. It connects the company’s nine river and inland grain silos with the deep-water port terminal in Constanta, Romania. Each barge is capable of transporting over 1,000 tons of grain – corn, wheat or barley – increasing logistics efficiency and giving COFCO greater flexibility and control over shipments.
Eurogate has opened a new railway terminal, Rail Gate, in Bremerhaven.
The new Rail Gate Bremerhaven terminal has been in operation at the Eurogate container terminal in Bremerhaven since 1 July 2025. The infrastructure comprises six 762-metre-long tracks and covers an area of 80,000 m², allowing for the handling of up to 330,000 containers per year. The total investment in the project amounted to 70 million euros.
FL Technics enters the Czech market with the acquisition of JOB AIR Technic.
FL Technics, a leading global provider of aircraft maintenance and repair (MRO) services and part of the international holding Avia Solutions Group, has announced the acquisition of the Czech company JOB AIR Technic. The deal provides for the transfer of 17,000 m² of production facilities at Leos Janacek Airport in Ostrava, the largest regional airport in the Czech Republic with a developed cargo and passenger infrastructure, to the management of FL Technics.
