CMA CGM launches new maritime service in the Mediterranean.

CMA CGM has announced the launch of its new Bora Med Service (BMS), which will commence operations on 23 December 2024. The service will connect Turkey, the Adriatic, Malta and the Eastern Mediterranean. The route will be served by six 2,500 TEU vessels, providing efficient and sustainable shipping links via key ports such as Antalya, Izmir, Malta, Trieste and Alexandria.

The development of the Trans-Caspian route was discussed in Tbilisi.

A meeting of the working group on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) was held in Tbilisi, where achievements and plans for the future were discussed. Over the 11 months of 2024, 50 thousand containers in twenty-foot equivalent (TEU) were transported along the route, and 328 container trains were organized, of which 304 departed from China. These indicators confirm the sustainable growth and effectiveness of the strategies being implemented.

DACHSER & FERCAM Italia opened a new branch in Tuscany.

In November 2024, DACHSER & FERCAM Italia opened a new logistics center in Arezzo, strengthening its freight network in the Italian region of Tuscany. This step will allow export-oriented customers from the industrial and commercial sectors to benefit from a direct connection to the European DACHSER network.

A large-scale infrastructure project has been completed at the Port of Riga.

In December 2024, the Freeport of Riga transport infrastructure modernization project was completed, aimed at improving the commercial competitiveness of the port and strengthening Latvia’s military mobility. The key stage was the completion of dredging works for the expanded berth of SIA Baltic Container Terminal, implemented as part of a joint project with CINEA. The total investment amounted to EUR 12.51 million, half of which was provided by the European Agency for Climate, Infrastructure and Environment.

TRACECA discussed key issues at the Permanent Secretariat meeting in Georgia.

The IGC TRACECA Permanent Secretariat meeting was held in Georgia with the participation of national secretaries and experts from the ILA member states, as well as representatives of the presiding party – Georgia. TRACECA Secretary General Askar Assavbayev expressed gratitude to the Georgian side and its representative, Deputy Minister of Economy Guram Guramishvili, for the warm welcome. He also reported on the results of the events held since the previous meeting in June 2024.

DP World launches carbon footprint reduction programme at its UK terminals.

DP World has begun trials of a new Carbon Inset Programme at its London and Southampton logistics hubs to help importers reduce their emissions. From 1 January 2025, participants will receive 50kg of CO₂e carbon credits for every loaded container passing through the company’s terminals. The credits, certified by independent organisations, will be issued quarterly and demonstrate the reduction in emissions in participants’ supply chains.
