On March 18th, the Port of Argentia in Canada and the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) in Germany entered into a Letter of Intent (LOI) aimed at enhancing cooperation in the export and import of green hydrogen between the two countries. The agreement was signed by CEOs Scott Penney of the Port of Argentia and Jens Meier of HPA during the Canada-Germany Hydrogen and Ammonia Producer-Offtaker Conference held in Hamburg.

The completion of the final phase of Certified Pick up (CPu) implementation at container terminals before the locks on February 19 marks a significant milestone for Antwerp’s container transport. This digitalization initiative enhances both safety and transparency in the logistics chain, representing a pivotal moment for the industry. Efforts are now focused on integrating terminals beyond the locks into the CPu system, further streamlining operations.

On March 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., Jadranski pomorski servis (JPS) celebrated the expansion of its tugboat fleet with the addition of two new ships, “Moretto” and “Gea,” at the Karolina Riječka Pier. The EU’s implementation of the Import Control System (ICS2) for maritime cargo imports is progressing to its next stage, set to take effect from June onwards and impacting all shipments from third countries. Carriers must adhere to the stricter standards of ICS2 starting June 3, with a final deadline of December 4, 2024, while freight forwarders can initiate migration for self-declaration from December 4, 2024. Facilitating cooperation, a new form of declaration, Multiple Filing, simplifies collaboration between carriers and freight forwarders by allowing separate transmission of basic and additional information, merged later in the Shared Trader Interface (STI), with Gladiator anticipating a high adoption rate.

As part of the visit to the city of Aktau, the Chief Advisor to the Director General of the European Commission for International Cooperation, H. Hololei, got acquainted with the work of the seaport. The meeting was held with the participation of the Chairman of the Board of JSC NC AMTP Abai Turikpenbaev, who introduced the guest to the current activities of the port and discussed plans for its future development.

Ukraine achieved a significant milestone in its grain exports this February, marking a record high since the onset of Russia’s invasion in 2022. With 5.4 million tonnes of grain exported, a 30% increase from the previous February, the country has demonstrated remarkable resilience amidst ongoing conflicts. This surge in exports is attributed to the strategic successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in securing the Black Sea region, particularly the port of Odesa, enabling unimpeded maritime transport corridors.
