DHL Express has announced the expansion of its international Time Definite International portfolio with the launch of a new service called Heavy Weight Express (HWX), designed for the urgent air delivery of heavy shipments. This solution enables the transport of cargo weighing up to 1,000 kg per piece – and up to 3,000 kg per shipment – with delivery to over 220 countries and territories via the company’s own dedicated air and ground network.
The new service targets industries where speed and reliability of delivery are critical, including the automotive, mechanical engineering, pharmaceutical, technology, energy, and oil and gas sectors. HWX features fixed delivery times, full end-to-end control of the transport chain, transparent pricing free of hidden fees, and specialized handling standards for sensitive and high-value cargo. DHL noted that the service will help companies minimize the risk of production stoppages, reduce inventory levels, and enhance the resilience of complex international supply chains.
To support Heavy Weight Express, DHL has established specialized “Heavy Weight Priority Desks,” staffed by personnel who will monitor cargo movements in real time, promptly address any potential deviations, and maintain direct communication with customers. According to DHL Express CEO John Pearson, the launch of HWX marks a significant step in the development of the company’s global logistics services, enabling it to provide customers with a higher level of shipping reliability and predictability amidst the current volatility of global supply chains.
