Kyrgyzstan plans to use TITR.

At a press conference on the results of the first half of 2024, Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev said that Kyrgyzstan is considering the possibility of using the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Currently, the bulk of cargo traffic passes through the southern corridor, which includes routes through Iran and Turkey to Europe and back. However, alternative routes are being considered that can speed up transportation, in particular, the Middle Corridor through Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and the Caucasus.

Jan De Nul wins tender for construction of Anaklia port.

The Georgian government has announced Belgian company Jan De Nul as the winner of the tender to develop the Anaklia deep-sea port, the Economy Ministry announced on Thursday, and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze confirmed the decision. Jan De Nul was selected from four European companies with the best international reputations.

The pilot train Korea-China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan has been launched.

A pilot train on the Korea-China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan route was launched at the Kazakh-Chinese logistics terminal in the port of Lianyungang. Representatives of the railway administrations of all four countries took part in the opening ceremony, emphasizing the importance of the event for international trade and cooperation.

DACHSER has completed the acquisition of Brummer and has begun integrating it into its network.

The German-Austrian Brummer Group is now wholly owned by DACHSER and is now part of its European network for the transport and storage of temperature-controlled products. LTG Cargo will replace its wagon fleet with a private one from 2025.

From 1 January 2025, Lithuanian freight rail company LTG Cargo will begin the gradual liquidation of its wagon fleet, replacing it with a privately owned fleet of 6,000 units managed by LTG Cargo. The new wagons will be used in two ways: for long-term lease and for one-off services, with 10% of the wagons allocated to the reserve fleet.

Record delivery: container train covered 4,486 km in 5 days.

As part of the agreements between the presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on cargo transportation along the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan route, the container train covered a distance of 4,486 km in just 5 days. The freight train departed from the Chinese port of Xi’an, was reloaded at the KTZE Khorgos Gateway dry port and headed through the KTZ network to Saryagash station, and then to the final point – Tashkent station, the main transport hub of Central Asia.

Kombiverkehr launches new route between Belgium and Spain.

Kombiverkehr KG is expanding its European intermodal network with a new route between Belgium and Spain. The first train on the Atlantic route between Antwerp and Madrid will depart on September 3, 2024. This offers freight forwarders and logistics companies the opportunity to use this important 1,600-kilometre corridor for environmentally friendly rail transport. Example: a round trip with a load of 25 tonnes saves 5.1 tonnes of CO2 (84 percent). The trains will run twice a week: from Antwerp on Tuesdays and Fridays, from Madrid on Wednesdays and Sundays. Containers, swap bodies and dangerous goods (classes other than 1 and 7) can be transported. The transit time will be between 48 and 72 hours, depending on the day of the week.
