Gebrüder Weiss has expanded its logistics centre in Tbilisi by 13,000 m², strengthening its position in the Caucasus and responding to the growing trade turnover between Europe and Central Asia. The official opening ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Georgia Levan Davitashvili.
The Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) have signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen cooperation in the areas of digitalization, decarbonization and cybersecurity. The signing took place in the presence of the First Mayor of Hamburg, Dr. Peter Zentscher, and the documents were signed by HPA CEO Jens Meyer and MPA CEO Teo Eng Dih.
The increase in grain exports was discussed at a meeting of the government of Kazakhstan. Managing Director of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Bauyrzhan Urynbasarov reported that 6.6 million tons of grain were shipped in the first nine months of 2024, which is 21% less than in the same period last year. At the same time, the export of flour and other milled products amounted to 2.7 million tons, an increase of 21%.
Aviator Airport Alliance, a subsidiary of Avia Solutions Group, has secured a new contract with European airline easyJet to provide ground handling services at Tromsø Airport (TOS), effective 11 November. For three years, Aviator will provide ground handling and de-icing services for easyJet flights.
The first Rail Baltica Information Centre has opened at the Kaunas railway station in Lithuania. The centre will provide up-to-date information on the project, which is set to radically change rail transportation in the Baltic region. With the launch of the high-speed line, Kaunas railway station will be able to serve around 11,000 passengers daily, which will exceed the figures for the capital, Vilnius.
According to the State Enterprise “AMPU”, for the period from January to September 2024, Ukrainian seaports handled more than 74 million tons of cargo. This is a significant increase compared to the same period in 2023, when transshipment amounted to 41.1 million tons.
Yusen Logistics France has opened a new logistics centre in Dunkirk. The ceremony was attended by Yusen Logistics Group President Hiroyuki Okamoto, Japanese Ambassador to France Makita Shimokawa, as well as representatives of local authorities and ports. With this move, the company strengthens its position in Northern France and expands its influence internationally.
Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev held a meeting with the head of the South Korean logistics company LX Pantos, Lee Yong Ho. During the negotiations, issues of expanding container transportation through Kazakhstan in the direction of Europe and back, as well as the participation of LX Pantos in existing and new transit routes were discussed.
Rail Baltic Estonia has announced the largest tender for the construction of the Rail Baltica main line, valued at up to €932 million. This project is strategically important for the European railway network, improving connections between the Baltic States, Finland and Central Europe. Rail Baltica will be a key element of the north-south transport corridor, promoting economic integration and increasing mobility.
