ID Logistics increased revenue by 14.2% in the first quarter of 2026.

French logistics operator ID Logistics opened 2026 with a strong financial result: first-quarter revenue amounted to €990.7 million, a 14.2% increase year-on-year. Adjusted for currency effects – primarily the weakening of the US dollar – the comparable growth was 17.2%. Eric Aimard, Chairman and CEO, described the results as a confirmation of the resilience of ID Logistics’ business model and the relevance of its market positioning.

Lithuania has approved a special plan for the Kaunas–Vilnius section of Rail Baltica.

The Lithuanian government has approved a special plan for the Kaunas-Vilnius section of the Rail Baltica project, simultaneously launching land acquisition procedures for state needs in the Kaunas and Jonava districts. The extension of the European standard-gauge railway to Vilnius is planned after the completion of the Rail Baltica main line connecting Poland with Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia – a priority agreed upon by the three Baltic States and the European Commission in 2024. Funding for the Kaunas-Vilnius section is planned for the next EU budget period, while land acquisition in the municipalities of Kaišiadorys, Elektrėnai, Trakai districts, Vilnius, and Vilnius district is scheduled for 2030.

HGK starts railway depot construction in Brühl.

Häfen und Güterverkehr Köln (HGK) has begun construction of a new railway network depot in Brühl-Vochem, investing around EUR 7m in the project. The facility, located at the “Am Volkspark” site, is scheduled for handover in summer 2027 and will centralise infrastructure and maintenance functions currently split across Cologne-Godorf, Wesseling and Brühl-Vochem.

DB Cargo Hungária has begun the first phase of operational testing of a dual traction system in diesel mode, where two diesel locomotives operate as a single functional unit. The locomotives are connected by an electric cable, ensuring synchronous transmission of control commands and coordinated operation of both locomotives. This configuration allows a single driver to simultaneously control both locomotives, effectively doubling the traction power while optimally utilizing resources.

DP World has launched a carbon credit scheme at the Port of Southampton, allowing customers to reduce Scope 3 emissions through terminal operations.

DP World announced the launch of a new carbon inset certificate scheme at its container terminal at the Port of Southampton. For the first time, this allows customers to count emissions reductions achieved at the port toward their supply chain decarbonization goals. Certificates are generated by reducing emissions through the use of HVO biofuels, electrifying port infrastructure, and generating renewable electricity, delivering significant CO₂ savings.

Romania has acquired the Giurgiulesti port operator from the EBRD, an asset that will strengthen Constanta’s role as a regional hub.

The National Company Constanta Sea Ports Authority has completed the acquisition of ICS Danube Logistics, the operator of the Giurgiulesti International Port, from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The agreement provides for further investments in the development of the port’s infrastructure, increasing its throughput capacity, and strengthening its role in the Black Sea region and the Danube Basin.

ÖBB is modernizing the historic Franz-Josefs-Bahn line between Vienna and the Czech border.

Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) has announced a major modernization of the Franz-Josefs-Bahn line, which connects the Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof in Vienna with Gmünd on the Czech border. As part of the project, approximately 400 overhead line masts will be replaced and around 21 km of new track will be laid on the section between Absdorf-Hippersdorf and Limberg-Maissau; an additional 3 km of track will be constructed between Limberg-Maissau and Eggenburg. Plans also include the refurbishment of bridges and drainage systems, as well as the replacement of the pedestrian bridge at Sigmundsherberg station.
