CLIP Group will build a modern intermodal terminal in Malashevichi.

Container Terminal Mala, part of CLIP Group, has signed a contract with Polish infrastructure company TorKol for the design and construction of a high-tech intermodal terminal in Malaszewicze. The facility, located at the junction of the European Union and Eurasian transport corridors, will be one of the largest logistics investments in recent years in Central and Eastern Europe. Completion of construction is scheduled for June 2026.

LTG Infra has signed contracts for the construction of key sections of Rail Baltica in Lithuania.

Lithuanian infrastructure company LTG Infra, responsible for the implementation of the international Rail Baltica project, has signed three new construction contracts worth a total of EUR 235 million. The works will cover 10 km of track laying between Switzerland and Žeimiai, as well as 18.9 km of new roadbed from Kaunas to Switzerland. Track installation worth EUR 13.9 million will be carried out by a consortium of Leonhard Weiss International (Germany) and Leonhard Weiss OÜ (Estonia), while roadbed construction is shared between AB HISK (8.5 km for EUR 97.8 million) and a consortium of UAB Fegda and UAB Tilsta (10.4 km for EUR 123.5 million).

HHLA received permission to purchase a terminal in Transcarpathia.

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has allowed the German logistics group Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) to acquire the intermodal terminal of Eurobridge Intermodal Terminal LLC, located in the village of Batiovo in the Zakarpattia region. The corresponding decision was published on August 7 on the AMCU website.

Hupac will increase the frequency of intermodal transport between Busto Arsizio and Basel.

From 1 September 2025, Hupac will strengthen the intermodal connection between Busto Arsizio (North-West Italy) and Basel (Northern Switzerland) by adding three additional weekly round trips. This will increase the total number of departures to eight per week, significantly increasing the capacity of the route.

Gdansk and Hamburg strengthen strategic partnership for a sustainable Baltic region.

Despite hundreds of kilometres of distance and different scales of operations, the ports of Gdansk and Hamburg are strengthening their cooperation through experience exchange and joint projects. The recent visit of the Gdansk Port delegation, led by President Dorota Pycz, to Hamburg was another step in developing a partnership whose history dates back to the Middle Ages, when both cities were members of the Hanseatic League. Today, as then, strength lies in unity, and cooperation is aimed at the benefit of the entire Baltic region.

She emphasized the strategic importance of the port for the country’s economy and announced her intention to increase state support for port infrastructure.

Business activity in the eurozone accelerated thanks to growth in the services sector and a recovery in manufacturing.

In July, business activity in the eurozone exceeded expectations, reaching an 11-month high. According to the preliminary composite PMI index from HCOB and S&P Global, the indicator rose to 51.0 points against 50.6 in June, which indicates moderate economic growth due to a confident recovery in the services sector and a gradual revival in industry.

The Port of Klaipeda has announced a call for applications for the largest expansion in its history.

The Klaipeda Port Authority has officially opened the call for applications for participation in the Southport project, the largest expansion programme in the history of the Lithuanian harbour. The project envisages the creation of about 100 hectares of new port territory and the construction of 1.3 km of berths, which will significantly increase cargo turnover and attract investment in modern production and logistics facilities.

DB Cargo improved its financial performance despite a drop in cargo turnover.

The freight division of the German railway corporation Deutsche Bahn — DB Cargo — ended the first half of 2025 with an EBITDA operating profit of 70 million euros. For comparison: a year earlier this figure was negative — minus 53 million euros. The operating loss according to EBIT also decreased significantly — from 256 million to 96 million euros.
