ÖBB Rail Cargo Group is transferring its TransFER service to the Verona–Duisburg route and increasing its frequency.

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group announced the relocation of its intermodal TransFER service between Italy and Germany from its Wuppertal terminal to a facility in Duisburg. This decision is due to the ongoing modernization of Germany’s heavily used rail corridors, which has temporarily limited the availability of the previous terminal. The new logistics hub offers modern infrastructure and additional capacity for storage and handling of cargo, which is already supporting growth in volumes and attracting new customers.

Craiss Generation Logistik has opened an expanded logistics centre in Weiz.

On February 13, logistics company Craiss Generation Logistik Austria GmbH & Co. KG officially opened its new facilities at its Weiz site. Following the expansion, the facility now provides approximately 40,000 square meters of warehouse and production space for the electrical and energy equipment manufacturer, for whom the operator has managed a dedicated warehouse since 2021. The opening ceremony was attended by approximately 300 guests, including representatives of the company, the client, and regional authorities.

CLdN acquires Samskip’s container and multimodal business between Europe, the UK and Ireland.

Logistics and shipping company CLdN announced an agreement with multimodal operator Samskip to acquire its container and door-to-door business between continental Europe, the UK, and Ireland. The deal covers services connecting Rotterdam with key UK and Irish ports, handling over 1,000 vessel calls annually, as well as cargo transportation for a wide range of customers, including consumer goods manufacturers. As part of the transaction, CLdN will receive lease agreements for over 5,000 multimodal units – containers of various types, including refrigerated containers and specialized flatcars.

Ukraine and QUAD partners discussed the sustainability of Danube ports and logistics development.

Representatives of Ukraine, the European Commission, Romania, and Moldova held another QUAD meeting to discuss the situation in the maritime industry and the Danube region. The discussion focused on the impact of Russian aggression on port infrastructure, restrictions on access to transport routes, energy challenges, and joint coordination of further actions to maintain logistics stability, according to Andriy Kashuba, Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

Rhenus and ZWILLING strengthen their logistics partnership in Germany.

Rhenus Group has entered into a long-term partnership with ZWILLING, a leading global manufacturer of premium kitchen products, including the brands ZWILLING, STAUB, MIYABI, DEMEYERE, and BALLARINI & HENCKELS. As part of the collaboration, the logistics center in Wesel will receive multi-year planning and operational support, as well as investments in modern processes and automation.

Maersk is adjusting routes and expanding services in Europe and the Mediterranean.

Maersk, together with Hapag-Lloyd, announced a change in the ME11 service route under the Gemini Cooperation: from mid-February 2026, vessels will sail via the Red Sea and the Suez Canal. The first western voyage on the new route is the Albert Maersk, voyage 605W, from Jebel Ali to Mundra, India, departing on February 4, 2026. Eastern voyages will commence on February 3, 2026, with the Astrid Maersk departing from Valencia, Spain. The company recommends that clients review their insurance and logistics strategies in light of the new routes and offers appropriate insurance solutions to protect their cargo.

The Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia presented a corporate transformation plan to international partners.

Ukrzaliznytsia Supervisory Board Chairman Gepard Hafer announced the presentation of the company’s corporate transformation and management plan to representatives of international financial institutions and government agencies. The high-level seminar was organized by the World Bank with the participation of the IFC, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, the European Commission, relevant Ukrainian ministries, the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, and the embassies of Switzerland and Austria.

DB Cargo has taken over full control of single wagon transport between Germany and Italy.

As of January 1, 2026, DB Cargo will assume full responsibility for single-car freight transport between Germany and Italy on the Mannheim-Chiasso route. Previously, transit on the Mannheim-Chiasso route was handled by external partners, but the entire process is now integrated into the company’s unified network. As Martin Brunner, Managing Director of DB Cargo Switzerland, noted, the plan is to operate up to 36 trains per week in each direction, with the Swiss subsidiary independently managing the key transit link of the group’s transalpine transport.
