Chinese carrier China Eastern Airlines has placed an order for 101 A320neo family aircraft from Airbus. The company announced the order on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The total contract value is estimated at $15.8 billion and includes deliveries of the A320neo, A321neo, and long-range A321XLR models, though the airline did not disclose the breakdown by aircraft type.

Deliveries of the new aircraft are scheduled for 2028 to 2032. The order will allow the carrier to update and expand its narrowbody fleet, improve fuel efficiency, and extend route range, including through the A321XLR version, designed for longer-haul flights.

China Eastern Airlines’ order book currently comprises 164 aircraft, including 58 A320neo family aircraft, 11 Boeing 737 and 787 aircraft, and 95 narrowbody aircraft from Chinese manufacturer COMAC. The new contract with Airbus represents a major step in the company’s continued fleet modernization.
