Construction of a major railway bridge across the Syr Darya continues on the Darbaza–Maktaaral line.

In Kazakhstan, work continues on the Darbaza–Maktaaral railway line project, which involves the construction of one of the route’s largest infrastructure assets: a steel bridge spanning the Syr Darya River, measuring over 500 meters in length. This six-span structure will serve as a vital component of the new 152-kilometer line, establishing an additional rail link between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The bridge’s design features two shore spans, each 66 meters in length, and four intermediate spans, each measuring 88 meters. To ensure structural stability, bored piles are being utilized, reaching depths of up to 38 meters at the shore supports and up to 41 meters within the riverbed. According to project reports, the assembly of five spans has been completed to date, while specialists continue work on installing the final 88-meter span structure.

Construction of the facility is being carried out by specialists from a Kazakhstani construction firm. It is anticipated that the commissioning of the new railway line and bridge will enhance the transport corridor’s throughput capacity, bolster the region’s transit potential, and improve rail connectivity between Kazakhstan and its neighboring countries.
