Head of Sales at VTG Rail Europe Elena Margl, speaking at the BLACK SEA TRANSPORT CORRIDORS 2026: PORTS, RAILWAYS, SHIPPING conference, presented rail transport as the most stable solution in times of global uncertainty. While air and road transport are affected by fuel price volatility and longer routes, rail offers a transparent cost structure and compliance with emerging carbon regulations.
One of the most technological highlights of the presentation was the introduction of the PowerWise system. This independent onboard energy source allows refrigerated containers to be connected and maintain the required temperature throughout the entire journey. It enables the safe rail transport of sensitive cargo from Asia to Europe without the risk of spoilage.
Margl challenged stereotypes about “blind” rail wagons by describing built-in anti-theft sensors and a unique brake monitoring system. The latter not only reduces the need for manual inspections but also prevents wheelset wear by instantly signaling the condition of the braking system. The VTG Connect platform allows operators to track even impact force and predict downtime.
“Rail is a reliable solution in the face of volatile fuel prices and extended routes. Our smart wagon technologies break long-standing stereotypes about rail transport, ensuring the safety of sensitive cargo and full cost transparency.”
