On March 31, 2026, GXO Logistics officially opened a new logistics facility in San Antonino, Canton Ticino (Switzerland). The ceremony was attended by GXO CEO Patrick Kelleher and representatives of the company’s management and local authorities. The new hub, which became part of GXO’s global network, is positioned as a technologically advanced facility focused on the future development of contract logistics.
The Ticino location is viewed as a strategic hub connecting Northern and Southern Europe and integrated into key international logistics corridors. The facility has direct connections to the rail network, including a route to Swiss Post’s main sorting hub in Harkingen, speeding up cargo processing and improving supply chain efficiency. The site, covering approximately 20,000 m² with a total usable space of 55,000 m², includes 20 loading and unloading docks and is designed to accommodate large freight flows.
Particular emphasis is placed on automation and sustainability. GXO Logistics has implemented multi-tier shuttle systems for lightweight storage and picking, automated pallet solutions, as well as 60 packing stations and high-density storage systems. The facility has a capacity of 14,000 containers and 600 pallets and is equipped with 20,000 m² of solar panels generating approximately 800,000 kWh per year. The center is LEED Platinum and ISO 14001 certified, underscoring the company’s environmental focus and long-term strategy for sustainable growth in Switzerland.
