Netherlands and Belgium allocate EUR 240m for Ghent-Terneuzen freight railway.

The project covers rail access in the North Sea Port area and the Ghent-Terneuzen canal zone. It is intended to provide a more reliable freight rail connection for the port and industrial area, supporting a shift of more goods from road to rail.

A total of EUR 240m has been allocated to the project. The funding will be divided equally between the Netherlands and Belgium.

The project is relevant for the accessibility and economic development of Zeeland and Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. The province also said there is an ambition to work towards passenger rail services in the future.
