Progress of work at terminal T3 Baltic Hub: mild winter favors construction work

The mild winter is favoring the progress of work at the T3 terminal in the Baltic hub, where the main reinforced concrete work is being carried out entirely thanks to favorable weather conditions, especially high temperatures. Completion of the formation of reloading embankments on 98% of the area is planned by the end of February 2024, and soil consolidation on 70% of the loaded area opens up new fronts of work.

The installation of a full set of CFA piles under the main pier and 100 CFA piles under the rear beam was completed, allowing work to begin on the construction of the reinforced concrete beams that will support the STS quay cranes. In the area between the main berth beams and the ground beam, deep soil stabilization is planned to be completed by March 2024, which will be the final stage before installation and road work.

Work is also focused on the future container storage sites, where 60% of the beam cranes at the first four sites have already been built and the installation of rails for semi-automatic yard cranes is already underway. At the same time, reinforced concrete and infrastructure work is underway at other container storage sites. In January 2024, work began on the buildings, including the transformer substation buildings, and work resumed on the southern embankment, including sheet piling and installation of the stiffening structure with anchored micropiles. At terminals T1 and T2, work also continues on the integration of power plants with new transformer substations T3.
