Ukraine has proposed extending the Via Carpathia and Rail2Sea routes to Kyiv and Odesa within the framework of the Three Seas Initiative.

During the Three Seas Initiative Summit in Croatia, Ukraine proposed expanding key transport corridors into its territory. This includes extending the Via Carpathia road route from Rzeszow via Lviv to Kyiv, as well as the Rail2Sea rail corridor to the port of Odesa. Kyiv emphasizes its readiness to become a full-fledged part of Europe’s updated security and logistics architecture.

According to Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Ukraine is already making a significant contribution to the region’s resilience and offering concrete infrastructure solutions. In addition to transport projects, Ukraine has initiated the creation of dedicated reverse gas supply facilities to Ukraine’s underground storage facilities through interconnectors with neighboring countries.

Ukraine also hopes to establish a separate funding window for its projects in the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund. The first financing package is expected to be launched during the upcoming Polish Presidency, which will accelerate the implementation of practical solutions in infrastructure, logistics, and energy.
