Kazakhstan Temir Zholy is embarking on the creation of its own maritime fleet as part of the implementation of directives issued by the Head of State and the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. The project aims to bolster the maritime component of the TITR and strengthen Kazakhstan’s position along this key Eurasian transport corridor.
KTZ Express Shipping – a subsidiary of KTZ Express – has signed contracts for the construction of six multi-purpose dry cargo and container vessels. Four of the vessels will be built at the Jiangsu Haizhongzhou Shipping Industry shipyard in China, while the remaining two will be constructed at the Baku Shipyard in Azerbaijan. These new “river-sea” class vessels, featuring a deadweight of up to 9,900 tons and a capacity of up to 537 TEU, are designed to operate along the Caspian and Black Sea routes.
The vessels will be equipped with state-of-the-art control and navigation systems, fully compliant with the international environmental standards established by the IMO and MARPOL. Classification support for the project will be provided by Bureau Veritas; this ensures a high level of safety, reliability, and environmental compliance for the fleet, thereby expanding its operational capabilities across international routes.
