Kazakhstan plans to increase container traffic along the Trans-Caucasian Transit Route to 300,000 TEU by 2029.

Kazakhstan intends to increase container traffic along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route to 300,000 TEU by 2029, according to the country’s Ministry of Transport. Over the past seven years, cargo traffic along the route has increased fivefold – from 0.8 million tons to 4.5 million tons per year, demonstrating the corridor’s growing role in international logistics.

By the end of 2025, approximately 77,000 TEUs had been transported along the TITR. The route has developed into a fully-fledged multimodal transport artery connecting China, Kazakhstan, the Caucasus countries, Turkey, and European markets. This growth in traffic is the result of both infrastructure development and strengthened strategic cooperation between participating countries and transport operators.

The Ministry notes that the key factors behind the increase in cargo traffic were the creation of favorable conditions for international shipping and the increased competitiveness of the route. In particular, customs procedures have been simplified, and delivery times have been reduced by almost half – from 28–32 to 13–17 days. The corridor’s development is further fueled by the growing demand for single-window logistics solutions, which expedite cargo processing and improve transportation efficiency.
