Port in Croatian Ploče (Luka Ploče) and three rail and logistics partners signed a memorandum to establish joint railway corridors Ploče – Šamac and Ploče – Zvornik. The agreement sets up a common logistics platform for traffic between the Croatian Port of Ploče and Central and Eastern Europe along Corridor Vc.
The memorandum was signed in Ploče by Luka Ploče, ENNA, Željeznice Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine (ŽFBiH) and Željeznice Republike Srpske (ŽRS). The parties will develop a joint logistics product under the name “Ploče – Central and Eastern Europe”, based on coordinated operations and a harmonised commercial approach.
The cooperation covers alignment of timetables and capacity allocation, exchange of operational data and joint market access towards key customers. The platform is structured as an open offer for railway undertakings and logistics partners under equal and transparent conditions.
The corridor links the Port of Ploče on the Adriatic with Šamac and Zvornik in Bosnia and Herzegovina, connecting onwards to Hungary and other Central European markets via Corridor Vc.
According to the signatories, the initiative responds to declining transport volumes and loss of market share to alternative routes and other modes. By presenting a unified product, the partners intend to increase rail’s share of freight flows between the Adriatic and the hinterland of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Central Europe.
