Chinese technology company Midea Group and international port operator Hutchison Port Holdings have signed a memorandum of understanding at the Shenzhen Port Global Supply Chain High-Quality Development Conference 2026. Over the next two years, the parties intend to deepen their strategic cooperation by pooling manufacturing, logistics, and digital resources to create a more resilient and efficient global supply chain.

The partnership will span markets key to both companies, including Thailand, Indonesia, Egypt, Vietnam, and Mexico. As Midea expands its overseas manufacturing, its international shipping volumes are growing rapidly; collaboration with Hutchison Ports will enable the company to strengthen maritime logistics corridors and ensure supply stability. Conversely, the increase in Midea’s cargo volume will boost container throughput at Hutchison Ports terminals and help attract new international shipping lines. Lewis Fu, President of Midea International, noted that the company aims to reach a volume of 1.5 million TEUs by 2027.

The first phase of this expanded cooperation will involve developing joint projects at Yantian International Container Terminals. The companies will focus on implementing digital solutions and eco-friendly logistics, integrating information systems, establishing priority cargo-handling corridors for peak periods, and developing multimodal transport and rail links between China’s inland regions and the Port of Yantian. Looking ahead, Midea and Hutchison Ports plan to extend this collaboration model across the port operator’s entire global network, placing special emphasis on developing “green” and digital supply chains.
