The key issue was the accession of China Railway Container Transport Corp. Ltd. (CRCT), a subsidiary of China Railway, to the project. The parties emphasized that its participation will strengthen the East-West-East cargo flows and increase the competitiveness of the Middle Corridor. Following the meeting, a protocol was signed on CRCT’s entry into the joint venture.

According to Azerbaijan Railways, transportation along the route is growing rapidly: in January-July, 225 block trains from China (24 thousand TEU) passed through Azerbaijan, which is almost twice as much as a year earlier. More than 400 trains are expected by the end of 2025. The inclusion of the Chinese company will open up new opportunities for container transportation from China to Europe and will allow for the expansion of digital integration and the implementation of smart logistics solutions on the Middle Corridor.
