Kalmar sums up 2025: record orders, profit growth, and a focus on electrification.

2025 was a period of sustained growth for Kalmar amid geopolitical instability and trade tensions. The company demonstrated its ability to quickly adapt to new conditions, expanding its order book and improving profitability while strengthening its focus on a service-based business model and sustainable innovation. In the fourth quarter, order intake reached a record €511 million (+5%), while the backlog increased to €977 million. Sales increased 11% to €487 million, with comparable operating profit reaching €60.5 million, a margin of 12.4%. By the end of the year, net debt was reduced to €5 million, and the leverage ratio to 0.0, significantly below the company’s long-term target.

The Port of Tallinn has opened a new multifunctional berth in the Port of Paldiski.

The Port of Tallinn has received permission to operate a new multifunctional berth at Paldiski South Harbour. The facility is already ready to receive its first vessel: a large vessel carrying components for the construction of an onshore wind farm in Latvia is expected to call in the second half of February. The new 310-meter-long berth, with a 13.5-meter depth and a 10-hectare rear area, is considered unique in the Baltic region.

The majority of Lithuanian residents support Rail Baltica and associate the project with the region’s security.

The majority of Lithuanians view the Rail Baltica project positively, considering it an important factor in economic growth and strengthening security in the Baltic region. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the research agency Norstat in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. In Lithuania, support for the project has reached 79% and continues to grow year on year. Moreover, 88% of respondents believe that Rail Baltica will contribute to the development of the national economy.

UNIFE and CER called on the EU to increase investment in railways and accelerate the digitalisation of the sector.

UNIFE, the European Railway Industry Association, and CER, the Community of European Railways and Infrastructure Companies, issued a joint declaration on measures to further develop rail transport in the European Union. The organizations noted that the industry employs approximately 3 million people and contributes €247 billion to the EU’s GDP, underscoring the sector’s strategic importance to the region’s economy and sustainability.

Essen Express will open a new DACT terminal at the Port of Damietta.

On February 14, the 13,117 TEU container ship Essen Express, operated by Hapag-Lloyd, will be the first vessel to call at the new Damietta Alliance Container Terminal (DACT) in Egypt, officially launching its commercial operations. The project is part of Contship Group’s expansion strategy to strengthen its position in the Mediterranean and North Africa, a region considered key for the continued growth of international trade.

XPO increased revenue to $2.01 billion in Q4 2025.

American logistics company XPO (NYSE: XPO) published financial results for the fourth quarter of 2025, ending the year with revenue growth and improved key operating metrics. Quarterly revenue reached $2.01 billion, compared to $1.92 billion in the previous year. Diluted earnings per share were $0.50, compared to $0.63 in the fourth quarter of 2024, and adjusted diluted earnings were $0.88, compared to $0.89. Operating profit decreased to $143 million (year-earlier – $148 million), net profit – to $59 million ($76 million a year ago), which is due, among other things, to a decrease in real estate revenue by $21 million and an increase in restructuring expenses by $23 million. At the same time, adjusted EBITDA increased to $312 million, compared to $303 million in the previous year. XPO generated $226 million in operating cash flow during the quarter and ended the year with $310 million in cash on the balance sheet.

Rotterdam exceeded 1 million m³ of LNG bunkering capacity for the first time and increased its volumes of bio-LNG and biomethanol.

The Port of Rotterdam recorded liquefied natural gas bunkering volumes exceeding 1 million m³ for the first time, with bio-LNG accounting for a significant portion at 17,644 m³. Compared to 2024, when bio-LNG volumes were 2,775 m³, this figure has increased more than sixfold. Biomethanol bunkering also demonstrated significant growth: in 2025, vessels received 11,819 tons of this fuel, compared to 3,946 tons the year before.
