The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine, Seymur Mardaliev, met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Irina Borovets, to discuss preparations for the upcoming COP29, scheduled for the end of the year in Baku, as well as multilateral cooperation between the two countries. He also shared information about Azerbaijan’s humanitarian assistance and its initiatives in Ukraine.

Liliana Krutonog, General Director of MALBI-trans, in her speech emphasized the importance of transit potential and routes through Kazakhstan from the point of view of a European forwarder. Their Czech company, although a private entity, received a significant impetus for development last year by becoming the official agent of the Czech railways – ČD Cargo. These powers enable the most efficient use of ČD Cargo’s infrastructure and services, including the locomotive and wagon fleet, terminals, warehouses and existing transport solutions.
Vincent Hascoet, expert on intermodal and strategic business development in the EMEA – CIS region at HHLA Project Logistics, presented the Port of Hamburg in Kazakhstan. He began his speech with the fact that Kazakhstan is of strategic importance as a crossroads of important trade routes connecting various regions. It is also noted that HHLA pays special attention to oversized shipments, which are becoming increasingly in demand in the context of changing geopolitical circumstances.
Gaidar Abdikerimov, Secretary General of the International TMTM Association, presented the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route association at the last Kazakhstan Transport and Logistics Forum. It started with the idea of creation back in 2013, and in 2017 it became an official legal entity with headquarters in the city of Astana, and since then significant changes have occurred. Having started with seven companies from three countries – Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia; the association currently unites 11 countries and 25 companies operating in the transport, logistics, port and shipping sectors.
Kazakhstan offers Armenia to use the transport corridor through Iran to deliver goods to Central Asia and China. According to the director of the Astana Diplomatic Club, Kaiyrbolat Sakhmetov, Armenian carriers are recommended to more actively use the Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan route. Goods from Armenia can be transported through Iran to a land port on the border with Turkmenistan, from where trains will depart in the direction of Kazakhstan, Central Asian countries and China.

Situated strategically at the heart of the city’s transportation network, the new site, spanning 11,150 square meters, signifies a substantial expansion for Rhenus Ireland, boasting enhanced storage capabilities to serve a diverse range of industries.
The European Commission has outlined reforms and investments necessary for the expansion of the European Union to new member countries. A significant focus lies on enhancing transport connections with the Western Balkans, Ukraine, and Moldova. The enlargement initiative aims to integrate key transport mainlines of candidate countries into the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and Trans-European Networks for Energy (TEN-E), fostering improved connectivity across Southeastern Europe. This modernization drive will encompass digitalization, communication upgrades, and the majority of projects will operate under public-private partnership models. Moreover, cybersecurity collaboration and joint purchasing schemes, akin to the EU Energy Platform, are vital for prospective EU members.
PTC-Trans announced its plans to expand its activities, with an emphasis on new directions and types of cargo. Previously specializing in oil and petrochemical cargo, the company is now seeking to expand its range of services due to the increased opportunities offered by the development of railway infrastructure. General Director of PTC-Trans, Bakytzhan Atashev, noted the beginning of negotiations with large companies on concluding long-term agreements for the transportation of goods, as well as the company’s intention to involve as many participants as possible in export processes as part of its new strategy.
