AD Ports Group is expanding through the acquisition of Tbilisi Dry Port

AD Ports Group, a leading port and logistics operator from Abu Dhabi, has entered into an agreement with Inveco LLC to acquire 60% of the shares of Tbilisi Dry Port – a new intermodal logistics center in Georgia with customs warehouses and access to the regional railway network. The TDP project, currently owned by Inveco and Wilhelmsen, is planned to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2024.

RCG achieves B- rating in rail sustainability index

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) secures another notable achievement, receiving a commendable B- rating from the international railway association UIC (Union Internationale des Chemins de fer) in the Rail Sustainability Index (RSi). This recognition underscores RCG’s commitment to sustainability and facilitates informed investment decisions globally. The RSi, aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), evaluates RCG’s performance across various indicators, highlighting its exceptional efforts in areas such as Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9), and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12). With a score of 61.7 points, RCG significantly surpasses the industry average, showcasing its leadership in promoting sustainable practices within the railway sector.

Challenges and forecasts: HHLA financial results for 2023

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) faced a challenging 2023 financial year, marked by a decline in both revenue and earnings. The company cited various economic pressures including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, geopolitical tensions, and inflationary pressures, which hindered post-pandemic recovery efforts. Group revenue dropped by 8.3 percent to €1,446.8 million, with the operating result (EBIT) plummeting by 50.4 percent to €109.4 million, reflecting an EBIT margin of 7.6 percent. Profit after tax and minority interests totaled €20.0 million, a significant decrease from the previous year.

The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group is expanding its transport route to meet growing demand

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is responding to increased customer demand by expanding the number of round trips and adapting the TransFER Villach–Frosinone route to accommodate growing needs. Originally launched in 2023 with one monthly round trip as part of the TransFER Villach–Italy service, the route has quickly doubled to two round trips per month, particularly driven by demand from the waste management sector. With plans to potentially increase to four round trips per month, RCG aims to provide more frequent and reliable transportation between Austria and Italy, catering to various industries including timber.
